AI Visibility Index

The AI Visibility Index is a public benchmark of which software vendors AI assistants name when buyers ask for recommendations, measured by running real buyer prompts on each engine and counting mentions. One page per category, updated as new audits run, with the aggregate data downloadable under CC BY 4.0.

How the index is built

Every category uses the same prompt patterns: "best X for Y", "A vs B", "A alternatives", pricing and trust questions. Each prompt runs on the engines we have access to (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews, plus open-weight browsing models as a baseline) and every answer is stored with engine, model and date. We count which vendors are named, in what order, and which URLs are cited, then compute mention rate, share of voice and the AI Visibility Score.

Why publish it

Because the question "does AI recommend us?" deserves a public answer, and because the sources engines cite are the same for everyone in a category. Vendors can use the index to see where they stand; buyers can see how narrow the AI shortlist really is.
